EAGLE Conference in Slovakia: Digital skills in SMEs

On January 25, 2024, the picturesque city of Banská Bystrica will play host to the EAGLE Conference, a prominent gathering themed “Digital Skills in SMEs.” This international event aims to spearhead discussions on the digital evolution within small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The conference will commence with opening speeches by esteemed personalities such as Vladimír Hiadlovský, Rector of Matej Bel University; Michal Mešťan, Dean of the Faculty of Economics at Matej Bel University; Katarína Chovancová from the EAGLE project; and Ghislaine Pellat of the ERECO PGV Network and CITEUROPASS project.

A highlight of the event is the keynote speech on “Digital Transformation, Digital Skills, and SMEs” by an industry member from FINAS.SK (SAPIE.SK), setting the stage for a day filled with insightful exchanges and learning.

Two pivotal panels will delve into critical areas impacting today’s digital landscape. The first panel, focusing on “Data Analytics and Cybersecurity,” features experts like Zuzana Omelková from SK GAMO, Darius Stitilis from the Lithuanian Cybercrime Center of Excellence, and representatives from the Turku University of Applied Sciences and the University of Limerick. The second panel, “Blockchain, Emerging Tech, Industrial Robotics, and Energy Systems,” brings together thought leaders like Richard Ščambura, Martin Bittara, Ivan Sedliačik, Enrique Sierra, and Dagmar Juchelková to explore these cutting-edge technologies.

This conference is not just a learning forum but also a networking haven. Dedicated time for B2B meetings and networking will allow participants to connect, share ideas, and forge new partnerships.

The event, primarily in English with Slovak translation available on demand, is a testament to the growing importance of digital skills in the business world. With a blend of academic insights and practical industry knowledge, the EAGLE Conference promises to be a fertile ground for innovation and collaboration.

As the conference draws to a close, reflections and conclusions will be presented by Bruno Baruque Zanon of the Universidad de Burgos and the EAGLE project, encapsulating the learnings and future directions for SMEs in the digital age.

Located at the Faculty of Economics, Tajovského 10, Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, the conference also offers online streaming for global participation. This event is a must-attend for anyone keen to stay abreast of the rapid digital changes shaping our world.
